Zalo is the number one IM application in Vietnam. It works very similar to Viber and LINE: with it, you can send text messages and make calls using 3G or WiFi.

Zalo works just as you would expect: You need to sign up using your phone number (although you can also install it on your tablet) and enter your information from Facebook or Google Plus. After that, you can add contacts from the address list to your device.

While Zalo’s main feature is the ability to chat with your friends, the app also includes public chat rooms where you can meet strangers. These rooms are divided into categories so that you can find what you like and chat with the people inside.

Zalo is a powerful IM application, the biggest appeal of which lies in the number of active users it has in Vietnam.
