We work hard to keep YouTube Kids videos family-friendly and use a mix of automated filters created by our mechanical teams, human criticism and parental feedback to protect our youngest online users. But no system is perfect and inappropriate videos can pass, so we are constantly working to improve our guarantees and offer more opportunities to help parents create the right experience for their families.

Adjust your child’s experience with Parental Control
Limit time in front of a screen: Set a time limit for the amount of time your children can attend and help encourage their transition from watching to work.
Continue with what they are watching: Just check out the “Watch It Again” page and you will always know what they have watched and the latest interests they are exploring.
Exclusion: Don’t like a video? Block the video or the entire channel and never watch it again.
Flagging: You can always notify us of inappropriate content by highlighting a video for review. Tagged videos are screened 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Create unique experiences as unique as your children
Create up to eight child profiles, each with its own viewing preferences, video suggestions, and settings. Select from the “Only approved content” feature or select an age category that suits your child, “Preschool”, “Younger” or “Older”.

Select the “Only Approved Content” feature if you want to select videos, channels and / or collections that you have approved for your child to watch. In this mode, children will not be able to search for videos. The “Preschool” feature is designed for 4-year-olds and features videos that promote creativity, play, learning and exploration. The “Younger” feature allows children 5-8 to explore their interests in a wide variety of subjects, such as songs, cartoons and crafts. While the “Older” function gives children 9 years and older the opportunity to search and explore additional content, such as popular music and video games for children.

Our library is full of family-friendly videos on all the different topics, sparking your child’s inner creativity and play. They are everything, from their favorite shows and music to learning how to make a model volcano (or make mud ;-), and everything in between.

YouTube Kids contains paid ads to offer the app for free. Your child can also watch videos with commercial content from YouTube creators that are not paid for ads.
