Visual Studio Code is a scaled-down version of the official Microsoft development environment that focuses exclusively on the code editor. It is multi-platform and supports the writing of a large number of different programming languages.

The tool provides support and assistance for a variety of coding languages: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, various variants of C, Java, SQL, PHO, Ruby, Visual Basic and JSON among many others. It also supports highlighting, auto indentation, quotes and auto-completion.

The environment is not something fantastic, focusing solely on offering flexibility and simplicity to promote platform compatibility, in addition to supporting Git repositories or the ability to open multiple versions of files in the same window.
