The TOR (The Onion Group) project is an altruistic initiative promoted by several experts in Computer and Internet Security and provides users with a tool to protect their identity and maintain their anonymity and browse the Internet.

The program changes the way the information you send over the network travels, providing you with a routing system that hides your data from your ISP so that the pages you visit, your credentials and your browsing history remain anonymously at any time.

The package includes two basic elements. The first is the control panel you use to connect to the Tor network and you need to enable it whenever you want to browse anonymously. The other is a modified, portable version of the Mozilla Firefox browser with many special features that help you take advantage of the anonymous browser provided by the tool.

The uses of Tor are very different. The constant scandals related to the loss of privacy at the hands of large companies have led many users to try to take measures to avoid constant monitoring of their activities. Another important use is related to avoiding exclusions that some countries impose on their own populations.
