SMS Backup & Restore is an application that backs up (creates a backup) SMS & MMS messages and call logs that are currently available on the phone. It can also restore messages and call logs from existing backups.

Note: This application requires existing backups to be able to restore call logs and messages. It can not recover anything without existing backups. Advanced Messaging (RCS) is currently only supported by Google Messaging.

Notes:
– Tested on Android 5.0 and later
– The application only restores backups created by this application
– The backup is created locally on the phone by default, but has options for uploading to Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or Email. Under no circumstances are the files sent to the developer.
– Make sure there is a backup copy outside the phone before performing a factory data reset on the phone.

This application needs access to the following:
* Your messages: Backup and restore messages. Receive an SMS license required to properly manage incoming messages while the application is the default messaging application.
* Your calls and contact information: Back up and restore call logs.
* Storage: To back up to SD card.
* Network view and communication: Allows the app to connect to wifi for backup
* Your social information: To display and save contact names in the backup file.
* Run at startup: Start scheduled backups.
* Prevent the phone from sleeping: To prevent the phone from sleeping / suspended while a backup or restore operation is in progress.
* Try access to Protected Storage: To back up to SD card.
* Account information: For authentication with Google Drive and Gmail for cloud uploads.
* Location: Required and used only during direct WiFi transfer due to security requirement on Android.
