Paint.NET is a free image and photo editing software for computers running Windows. It has an intuitive and innovative user interface with support for levels, unlimited undo, special effects and a wide variety of useful and powerful tools. An active and growing online community provides friendly help, tutorials and add-ons.

It began development as an undergraduate college design program under Microsoft guidance and is currently maintained by some alumni who originally worked at it. Flat
Usually found only in expensive or complex professional software, levels are the basis for a rich image composition experience. You can think of them as a stack of slides that, when viewed at the same time, form an image.

Special effects
Many special effects are included to enhance and refine your images. Includes everything from blur, sharpness, red eye removal, distortion, noise and embossing. Also included is the unique 3D Rotate / Zoom effect which makes it very easy to add perspective and gradient.

Powerful tools
PaintNET includes simple shape drawing tools, including a handy curve tool for drawing Bezier splines or curves. The Gradient tool, new to 3.0, has been reported as an innovative improvement over similar tools provided by other software. The facilities for creating and working with options are powerful, but they are still simple enough for quick recovery.

Unlimited history
Everyone makes mistakes and everyone changes their mind. To do this, any action you take on an image is logged in the History window and may be undone. Once you undo an action, you can also repeat it. The length of the history is limited only by the available disk space.
